Summer Fields

Dress: DVF || Belt: D & G || Sunglasses: Armani

I absolutely love this post!! I always love to explore the areas that surround my home and wanted to share that beauty! The colors that developed between my outfit and the field were breathtaking. When I came up with the idea to visit this field I wanted to wear something that made me feel like I was in a movie or photo shoot (haha! a girl can only dream) and this outfit did just that. I love when I wear special pieces in my closet that I wouldn’t wear from to day-to-day because it makes a statement. This post was exactly that for me and I love the way the pictures turned out! Definitely worth going back…hope you guys enjoy them!

Fashion with Friends: Laura

Hi guys! Today I am starting something really exciting and something I’ve wanted to do for such a long time. As a college student living in a dorm these past two years, I have been surrounded by some stylish fashionistas. I draw a lot of my outfit inspirations from the things that surround me, a lot of that comes from my friends. Whether it is borrowing clothes, styling them for campus events, picking out outfits to go out it in, my closet really became a mesh between borrowed clothing as well as my own. Walking around campus I am inspired by every girls take on day-to-day outfits. Of course, I want to inspire and be inspired…so I’m sharing with you the style that inspires me to step outside of the box with my outfits.

Today’s Fashion with Friends guest is my dear friend Laura Westhoff from Chicago, Illinois. She’s sharing one of her summer looks with you!

“I’ve always loved to play with fashion and change-up my style from day-to-day, so today I went with a boho vibe by wearing this floral Free People gown. I browse new clothes almost daily so my style is definitely a range depending on the occasion from preppy to bohemian to edgy. When this opportunity presented itself to me I knew I had to pull out this dress from my closet because it captures the true style I have within, but may not show everyday, and has a bit of drama (not to mention it’s fun to twirl in!) Since the print is pretty bold and covers the entire dress I tried to keep the accessories simple with a floppy hat and a slightly embellished necklace. Everyone has that one thing they like to splurge on whether it be jewelry, shoes or clothes, and mine happens to be dresses, because the occasions that they are for are always pretty special, and this dress is no exception!”

Young at Heart

Dress: Free People || Shoes: Michael Kors || Sunglasses: Rayban

I absolutely love this dress by Free People, it is airy, has a gorgeous golden yellow tone and can transition from day to night. I am always looking for easy, chic dresses that help the “getting ready” part of my day easy! I wanted this outfit to speak for itself. I added these red chunky, cork heel that brought out some of the warmer hues in the dress. To me this outfit is playful and makes me feel young at heart.

A Week in Salads…

I love a good salad and staying healthy during the week! I wanted to share some of my homemade salad recipes to inspire you! I swear by these recipes they are so good! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

1 piece of fresh grilled chicken (cut into small cubes)

4-5 sliced strawberries

5-6 whole walnuts chopped

7 cubes of

2-3 cups of arugula

2 tablespoons of light champagne vinaigrette

Toss in a bowl (add as much dressing as you wish) and enjoy!

~ TIP ~

If you are packing lunches for work put all the dry ingredients on the top and dressing in a small container on the side and put it together at work so that it doesn’t get soggy.

2 slices of cold cut turkey cut into small pieces

1 granny smith apple (cut in half and use that)

5 whole pecans lightly chopped

¼ cup of crumbled blue cheese (modify for as much as you want)

2 cups of spinach

1 cup of arugula

2-3 tablespoons of light balsamic vinaigrette

3 cups chopped romaine lettuce

5 large shrimp (with tails removed)

1/2 avocado, diced

1/3 cup corn kernels

1 cup grape tomatoes

2 tablespoons crushed tortilla chips

1/4 cup fresh lime juice

1/4 cup olive oil

2 tbsp. honey

2 tbsp. finely chopped fresh cilantro

1 garlic clove, peeled and minced

1 tsp. chopped jalapeño pepper (use canned for less heat)

3 cups chopped greens (house blend salad bags are good)

½ cup of chicken or avocado

1/3 cup of sliced carrots

¼ cup thinly sliced purple cabbage

7-8 slices of cucumber

2-3 sliced of tomato

1 tsp. sesame seeds

Dressing: This is a little splurge but I love to pick up local ginger dressing from my Chinese restaurant for a classic Asian salad

3 cups of arugula

1/3 cup Gorgonzola

¼ cup walnuts

½ cup chicken (think chicken breast, cooked 3-4 min on each side with balsamic glaze, salt and pepper)

4 strawberries sliced

Orange zest (add as much as you like, I usually do a quarter or third of an orange)

2 tbsp. balsamic vinaigrette

Saturday and Sunday are usually the days where I splurge on my diet…Instead of salads for lunch I often opt for sandwiches, pasta or pizza.

Hidden Gem

_DSC7845 _DSC7844 _DSC7840 _DSC7855_DSC7837 _DSC7836_2

Top: Aritzia || Jeans: Zara || Shoes: Manolo Blahnik || Sunglasses: Gucci

I remember when I was little and all I wore were embellished jeans or jeans with embroidery. Back then it was cool but looking back they were anything but chic (haha!). These jeans are a hidden gem! I found them in Vienna at the Zara store and knew they were a must. I saw them and felt like I was 8 again, except these were a chic modern version of the ones I wore when I was little… The fabric is light, the rips are perfectly balanced with the gems (that aren’t too flashy). A perfect pair of jeans to travel, and enjoy the day in!!

I wanted to keep the look simple and had to accessorize with a pop of color! I am absolutely loving maroon right now…it is going to be major in the fall. The shoes and sunglasses play a perfect balance to the casual look.
